The hope and hype of Scientific AI

Scientific data, found in such vital industries as life sciences, chemicals, agriculture, materials, and energy, is among the world’s largest and fastest growing datasets and is upstream to the transformational breakthroughs required to solve humanity’s grand challenges. 

The inexorable increase in computational power, democratization of cloud computing, and emergence of more powerful neural networks has led to much hope and hype in the realm of scientific discovery.

That said, in order for Scientific AI to become a commercial reality, large-scale, liquid, well-engineered, and compliant scientific datasets will need to be designed, assembled, and managed.

Our journey to date

While our vision for Scientific AI has remained constant since we began four years ago, we have taken a disciplined approach to the development of the Tetra Scientific Data and AI Cloud. We have also been careful to bring our customers along with us on this vital journey and to unlock value for them at each stage.

Today, TetraScience has dozens of the world’s most demanding scientific companies as customers, including 12 of the top 25 pharmas. TetraScience enjoys a multi-year integrated technology-science market lead, benefits from network effects, and has established deep and wide competitive moats. 

Fully half of our people have advanced degrees (MS, Ph.D.) in science (e.g., molecular biology, chemistry), while the balance comes primarily from the technology sector broadly, and the data-stack market in particular. TetraScience is uniquely a scientific-native, modern-data-stack-native, and AI-native company, whereas all others are either scientific tourists, modern-data-stack tourists, or AI tourists.
